The Rise of Augmented Reality in Smartphones

Augmented Reality (AR) is one of the newest and hottest technologies in today's smartphone industry. There are apparent functions like gaming, marketing, and entertainment, but AR is also used to solve real-world problems.

AR or augmented reality has taken the world by storm. The technology made famous by sci-fi enthusiasts has become a reality, and the technology has been making rapid progress. It is adopted by many big brands like IKEA and Burger King and small businesses alike.

Augmented reality apps are designed to add objects to real-world pictures and videos. They have several applications in different industries such as gaming, entertainment and education.

AR Capabilities

The capabilities of AR depend on the platform used. For example, iOS has more features than Google's Android operating system.

Here are some examples of what you can do with AR:

Scale objects: You can scale objects in real-time using AR by moving your smartphone closer or farther from a thing until it reaches its correct size.

Rotate objects: You can rotate real-world objects without moving them physically by turning your smartphone around a thing until it reaches its correct orientation.

Move objects: You can move (or teleport) things into different positions in space by holding your smartphone in front of them and tapping on them with another finger or stylus. This allows you to move items around without touching them directly or physically moving them yourself! This is very useful when placing furniture in your home - pull up an app that shows how everything looks together before buying anything!

Animate: The ability to animate objects by making them move independently without any user input is required. This is done using computer vision technology which enables computers to "see" what's happening in front of them through the camera lens and react accordingly based on those movements. For example, if you point your camera at a person and ask Siri what they look like, a 3D model of that person will appear on the screen with animations such as blinking eyes, talking mouth etc.

Different Applications of AR using Smartphones

Gaming - The most impressive use of augmented Reality is in gaming. Augmented Reality allows gamers to experience an enhanced version of their favourite games by adding virtual elements to the natural environment around them. For example, Pokémon Go lets players catch Pokémon characters from their smartphones by finding them in real life locations like parks or public buildings.

Training Applications - Trainers can use augmented reality apps to simulate dangerous scenarios not to put their trainees at risk when conducting training exercises in real-life environments. For example, firefighters can use these apps when conducting drills that involve handling hazardous materials or responding to emergencies at chemical plants where toxic fumes may be present in the air around them.

Product Visualization – By placing an object into a digital space, users can see how it might look in another setting or location before making a purchase decision. This increases sales as customers know what they're getting before buying something online or from a store display.

Education - Augmented reality apps help students learn faster and more efficiently than traditional methods because they allow them to visualize concepts more interactively. For example, if you're trying to understand how human blood cells work in real life, you can use an app to see what they look like on your phone screen. There are even unique apps designed for students who are learning different languages!

Companies in Focus in the AR Avenue

  • Google ARCore helps developers build AR apps for Android. It uses advanced computer vision to ensure that AR apps run smoothly on your device without requiring additional setup.
  • Samsung SmartThings is a hub that connects all your smart devices so you can control them from anywhere using your smartphone. Using Samsung SmartThings with the SmartThings app lets you monitor and control your smart home from anywhere in the world.
  • Facebook Camera360 is an app that lets you take photos and videos with fun effects and share them on Facebook or Instagram right away. The app automatically detects faces in images and adjusts lighting based on where people are standing in the frame.
  • Amazon Arkit- Amazon has its own AR kit that allows you to create 3D objects and place them in the real world. You can also create your 3D models using their app, Tilt Brush, a virtual reality painting application. You can also share your designs with others using the app. The app will be available on iOS 11 or later versions of Apple's operating systems for iPhones and iPads.

What to expect in Future for AR on Smartphones?

AR can be used in many different fields, from entertainment to education and even medical research. The future of AR is bright as we can expect more advanced applications in various areas, including business, medicine and entertainment, among others.

Here are some of the things that you can expect from AR on smartphones in future:

1) Better user experience

2) Faster development processes
